Germany/Austria Day 3

Day 3
- Neuschwanstein Castle
- Driving in Germany
- Dreamy Garmisch

Today was very much a fairy tale day.
First off...breakfast ;) Again with the delicious pastries. And sparkling apple juice. Aaaaand Kody made sure to put his candy in the shot as well.. haha

We drove down to Neuschwanstein Castle and just the drive alone was incredible!
I'm telling you- the countryside is a different green here.
Germany needs no filter.
Occasionally the most darling little town will pop up, brown cows, cute churches.
Just all of it. Ohhh it was amazing.

Kody sure loved zipping down the autobahn! We felt pretty cool…until you see a BMW or something fly past ya
we also got the tail end of what’s called the Romantic Road. Pretty sure it’s just called this cause it is wonderfully beautiful absolutely everywhere
All of the sudden it got even more beautiful and in the distance we could see the castle up on the mountain!

You start down at the base where there is a castle on either side of you (amazing and crazy). You can either walk up the path or take a little carriage, we opted for just walking up for free, and we had plenty of time until our tour time.
(Here you can see the castle up behind us)

Aaand the other castle on the other side.
I can’t tell you how many times I was freaking out over how incredible everything was that I laid eyes on!
 I mean come on!

This castle is just to die for. No wonder my main man Disney copied it to make Cinderella's castle.
Easily my favorite pic of the day! winner winner

Thats the bridge in the distance on the opposite side of the castle...  Usually you can go over there too, but they are fixing up the bridge so we couldn't actually go on it! Bummer.

Unfortunately we couldn't take any pictures while inside for our tour... Pretty amazing rooms in there. But Ludwig II only lived there for less that 200 days, and passed away before it was finished...so only about 1/3 of the inside was actually completed.
So, sorry we don't have pics of the inside for you, reader!
But here are a few from a balcony/look out area from the castle. You can see the bridge on the left, a lake in the middle and just to the right of it that other castle.

Kody laughed at me for wanting to see every angle of the castle possible. But i'm stubborn, so we walked around the pathway that leads to the bridge on the other side just to take a look.
Check out the sweet backpack on that guy! haha silly panoramic

Well, we were back on the road and heading down to Garmisch. It wasn't too far, but wow if I thought the drive before was breath-taking.... this absolutely killed me.
Can you see the castle and looooong bridge on top of that mountain? Are you kiddin me?
Here it is looking back at it as we passed. wow.
We've heard that it's a great little town with gorgeous mountains and everything that I was hoping for in this part of the trip. Well my gosh- I think i've died and gone to heaven. This place is an absolute dream!
Also, bells were ringing. I'm a sucker for those and my heart eyes got even bigger!
We were told to try this little restaurant for good Bavarian food and atmosphere..
Right as you walk in, you hear someone playing the accordion and it's just the most classic German place you can imagine! You just sit right down next to other people and enjoy the live music.

Kody ordered a wienerschnitzel (thin, breaded..veal pretty sure) and I ordered Kaese Spaetzle (mac n cheese) and wowee it was excellent.

All of the sudden, next to the table, there were two boys in vintage German/Bavarian clothes and they whipped out this slapping dance! Blast, it's not letting me upload the video... Just imagine boys clapping, slapping their arms and bottoms of their shoes...haha
Such a fun place!
It's pretty chilly around here and got dark once we finally left dinner...
So we are way excited to explore more of this heavenly dream tomorrow!
